Mike is an Occupational Physician who is the founder and Executive Chairman of Medigold Health Consultancy Ltd, which was founded in April 1998 after a management buyout from the Sedgwick Group.
A former NHS General Practitioner and Trainer, Michael has pioneered a number of initiatives in the private medicine sector, commencing with The Harrow Health Care Centre, Britain's first pre-paid private primary care service, which was launched in 1982.
In a consultant/advisory capacity he has managed projects for a major US Health Maintenance Organisation and has specialised in the provision of cost effective medicine within both the private and NHS sectors.
He also writes regular papers and articles on healthcare and he has been intimately involved in assisting the previous Government with its reform of the National Health Service. He was an advisor to the Secretary of State for Health until 1 May 1997, and Chairman of the NHS Network. His most recent book published in July 2005 has been for the Adam Smith Institute, on a major health policy study “Roadmap to Reform” with Professor David Gladstone, of Bristol University.
In November 1993, Dr Goldsmith was appointed Group Director of Medical Services of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, and from June 1995 was the Chief Executive of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes Health Consultancy. He was also Chief Medical Officer of Guardian Health from 1991 to 1997.
His company, Medigold Health Consultancy Ltd, now in its tenth year provides occupational health services for over 350 of Britain's blue chip companies and public sector organisations. They also act as insurance and pensions medicine specialists to a large number of UK insurers and pension funds, both for PMI, PHI and early ill health retirement advice. He is also Chairman of The Commercial Occupational Health Providers Association (COHPA) which is the industry trade body.
In his “non- work” time he also acts as Honorary Medical Officer for the East Midlands RFU.
Mike lives with his wife Amanda in rural Northamptonshire with his horses, dogs, cats and llamas. He has four children and his passions are family, rugby, cricket and travel, in that order.
Geny was appointed as Managing Director of Medigold Consultancy in July 2005. Geny has developed and maintained excellent relationships with many of our clients and has been a keen innovator of many of the administrative policies and procedures for which Medigold excels.
Geny joined Sedgwick Noble Lowndes Health Consultancy in January 1998 shortly before the management buyout of Medigold was completed from the Healthcare Division of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes.
Geny's previous positions were as both HR and Administration Director and Manager, where she was responsible for the administration of all contracts within Medigold and for the smooth running of the Head Office, together with responsibility of all HR Services. She is also responsible for most of the computer software development, and design and development of the various clinical databases in use within the company.
Alex joined Medigold in April 2006 after serving 8 successful years in the City of London working for two highly respected Investment Banking firms. Alex is ultimately responsible for all commercial activities within Medigold including origination of new business, developing and maintaining existing client relationships and devising and implementing all commercial planning and strategy. Alex also oversees all PR and marketing initiatives undertaken by Medigold. Alex lives in rural Northamptonshire with his wife, Gemma.
Peter was appointed as the Medigold Clinical Director in 2005, following a period as Regional Director of Occupational Medicine (North West) and is based at our Manchester Office. Peter joined Medigold in 1999 as its third full time Occupational Physician. He is an extremely experienced Occupational Health Physician having until recently been the Deputy Director of the Defence Medical Training Organisation (DMTO) which is a Defence Agency. He has just retired as Group Captain from the RAF Medical Branch. Whilst in the RAF he carried out his Occupational Health Traineeship in wide range of working environments between 1993 and 1994, including Rolls Royce, Nissan and Scottish Nuclear.
Mark joined Medigold in January 2007, having previously worked for many years in the NHS in London before moving into Occupational Health with Toyota Motor Manufacturing, where he was very involved in reducing sickness absence and managing employee health and wellbeing.
In 2009, Mark was appointed Associate Director of Nursing with Medigold with responsibilities for managing and developing the Occupational Health Advisors service including health surveillance, health and wellbeing and case management.
He is closely involved with implementation and management of services to new and existing clients and for monitoring standards of service and delivery.
Mark lives in Derbyshire and has 2 boys. In his spare time he enjoys travel and scuba diving.
David joined Medigold in July 2005 and was promoted to Associate Medical Director in June 2009.
Previously David was a Specialist Registrar in Occupational Medicine for Nottingham Occupational Health. During his time with Nottingham Occupational Health David was the lead physician for various companies including Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust (largest mental health trust in Western Europe), Capital One Bank, Nottingham Trent University, Carlton Television and Leicester Fire Service. David has also been involved in an annual teaching session for medical students providing an introduction to Occupational Health.
David is currently a Vocational Trainer for Faculty of Occupational Medicine training Specialist Registrars to Consultant level.
Joanne has risen swiftly through the Medigold ranks since joining in September 2004. Joanne is our Associate Director of Customer Services and is specifically responsible for managing the Administration Supervisors along with the Customer Services Department which aims to provide an end-to-end customer-focused liaison service to our nationwide client base. It is Joanne's responsibility to make sure that all the administration supervisors and their teams continuously provide the high level of customer service that Medigold Health Consultancy is renowned for.
