Ever wondered who’s behind the exceptional training programmes and consultancy services we offer? It’s time to put a face to the name! Our team consists of accredited, seasoned professionals, each bringing a wealth of experience in mental health, disability support, and workplace health services. Their personal journeys and lived experiences are what make our learning experiences so unique and impactful.

First we will introduce you to Barrie Norman Jnr, who is the leading man when it comes to our Men’s Mental Health First Aid training courses!

Barrie Norman Jnr – Senior Mental Health First Aid and Suicide First-Aid trainer, and Operational Lead.

After a distinguished military career, I’ve transitioned to leading workplace training and consultancy. As the Operational Lead, I ensure smooth service operation and high-quality training delivery, drawing on the discipline, resilience, and leadership skills honed during my time in the armed forces. My role in training at Medigold Health evokes the camaraderie I cherished in the military—now enhanced by the openness, compassion, and support of the team I’m proud to be part of.

I have faced my own battles with mental health, and it’s this lived experience that fuels my passion for the work I do. Having walked through some of life’s darkest moments, I understand the power of being seen, heard, and supported. I’m committed to using my platform to break the silence around mental health and suicide -challenging stigma, encouraging open conversations, and helping others feel less alone in their struggles.

Mental health affects us all, and no one should suffer in silence. By sharing my story and supporting others, I hope to create safer, more compassionate workplaces. If you would like to read more about my journey, click here.

On a more light-hearted note, here is a fun fact for you! I’m an avid Warhammer Age of Sigmar player, and was recently ranked in the top 10 worldwide!

Meet the rest of the training team!

Stefan Briceag – Training Coordinator

Joining Medigold’s Disability Training and Consultancy Team as a Training Coordinator two years ago, my role focuses on ensuring smooth training delivery and a seamless client journey. I leverage my presentation, analytical skills, and our training management system to support the team effectively.

Fun fact: A former wrestler, I was a European champion in my category in 2015 and now enjoy watching and supporting my former colleagues in competitions.

Kath Wood – Disability Training and Consultancy Specialist – Product and Consultancy Lead

With over 15 years in disability and employment, I’ve spent half of that as a Disability Training and Consultancy Specialist, developing and delivering resources on disability, mental health, and neurodiversity. I lead on product quality and consultancy for the Disability Confident scheme.

Fun fact: My proudest moment, presenting a neurodiversity toolkit at a secure government location, coincided with an embarrassing one when I got trapped in a turnstile, likely landing me on their security bloopers reel!

Kim Najran – Disability Training and Consultancy Specialist

Working in the Disability Training and Consultancy Team for over two years, I deliver training courses like Mental Health First Aid as a qualified instructor. I am a keen mental health advocate, and I’m training as a psychotherapist alongside mentoring and volunteering roles.

Fun fact: I’ve always dreamt of being an actress, with aspirations to perform on stage or even on a show like Eastenders!

Alice Gibson – National Disability Training and Consultancy Specialist

As a Disability Training and Consultancy Specialist since February 2023, I deliver various health, disability, and wellbeing trainings and help employers achieve Disability Confident status. I’m a TAP-accredited trainer and a Mental Health First Aid Wales instructor, enjoying my role and working from home with my dog, Martha.

Fun fact: I was in a touring theatre company for eight years, playing roles like Chief Weasel in ‘The Wind in the Willows‘, and I might still have my costume tail!
