Good Luck Maisie!
The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics has already treated us to so much sparkling sporting action this summer, but with the Paralympic Games kicking off this week there’s sure to be more in store, and we absolutely can’t wait!
Someone we’re especially excited to see competing is Medigold Health-sponsored swimming superstar Maisie Summers-Newton, who secured her place at Tokyo (her first Olympics) after smashing her own world record to take gold in the Women’s SM6 200m Medley at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships (where she also won a silver medal in the SB6 100m Breaststroke and a bronze in the S6 100m Freestyle).
Nominated for the 2018 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, Maisie is coached at Northampton Swimming Club, just a stone’s throw from Medigold Health’s headquarters, and grew up in Wollaston, the same village where both our founder, Dr Michael Goldsmith, and our current CEO, Alex Goldsmith now reside and where they have often seen her out on training runs!
Like everyone in her community, which has reportedly been swept up in support for the champion swimmer, with homes, schools, businesses, and public buildings bedecked with flags, bunting and lights, Medigold Health will be cheering Maisie on this week as she goes for gold in the 200m individual medley, the 100m breaststroke, and the 400m freestyle.
We’re extremely proud to sponsor such a dedicated and talented young athlete – we’ve got all our fingers crossed for her and have every confidence that she’ll be up on that podium and bringing home a medal!
Come on Maisie (and Team GB!) – you can do it!
