How to improve workplace attendance

But UK sickness absence rates are on the rise. The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that, in 2023, the average worker missed 4.7 days due to sickness. What’s more, a report by the Institute for Public Policy Research found that sickness absence costs businesses over a staggering £100 billion per year, with absenteeism and presenteeism both significantly contributing to this high figure.
